To Whom It Best Entertains...
You are cordially invited to the
Farce & Facades
Masquerade Grand Ball
This party season, we request your presence to taste decadence and mystery within the esteemed halls of Garreg Mach.
Old Friend, I beseech you: you must attend.
It matters not whether you join us for a waltz on the ballroom floor, to savour the delectable banquet, or to feast your eyes on the whirlwind of colours—
I have the information you requested, but it is unsafe to share in written form. I fear they know who we are.
—We seek front row spectators to our cohort of harlequins, firebreathers, stilt walkers and more! There's plenty for any distinguished patron to enjoy.
I need to speak with you. At the ball, we may talk freely behind false faces. Find me. I will know you by your calling card.
Abandon your inhibitions, embrace your anonymity, and don your mask to join us for the celebration that will be the talk of Fódlan!
Hide your true face, for you don't know who may be watching…

a murder most foul...
Due to overwhelming support in the Interest Check, there will be a murder mystery aspect to the zine. This will tie into our contributor’s main pieces in the zine. In the application form, contributors can sign up to be part of the murder mystery aspect, and those contributors will have a say in how this runs. We are hoping to include a replayability aspect to the murder mystery storyline, so it is possible that contributors will not know the full storyline, and if you are asked to keep your parts secret please honor this.Mods will devise the overall story beats. Then, contributors will be given items or story beats to include in their pieces (e.g. Please hide a small dagger in this artwork, please include Seteth spilling red wine on Manuela’s white dress), or aspects of their pieces will be included in the overarching story, e.g. lines of dialogue already written by the contributors which will provide—or disprove—alibis. There will be spot writing opportunities for people to be involved in producing the guide to the murder mystery. This will include “Dungeon Master”-like exposition and scene setting to grip readers of the zine and give them the pieces of the puzzle they need to work out whodunnit! If you would like more information about this as a potential applicant, please feel free to DM us.

If you are a musician interested in contributing to the zine, please DM us.
please note: application links will be changed to accepting responses when applications open.
Full details of how to apply and application guidelines are available in our info doc. Please Note: Mods will be looking for unique pitches that fit the dark masquerade theme. Applications with pieces showcasing strong character/fashion design are encouraged, albeit not required. External factors e.g. social media following or other works outside of the samples provided in applications will not affect contributor acceptance. There are a few content restrictions for the zine itself. Please do not submit samples or pitches that contain rape, non-con, incest, pedophilia, homophobia, transphobia, and racist depictions of POC.While the main focus of the zine is intended to be around the masquerade, there is definitely space for more creative interpretations of this theme such as metaphorical masks and face stealing.
